EARN YOUR LAZY! Stop spending your life doing chores and constantly adding to your “To Do” and “Should Do” lists.
To live the life you want you do need to make sure your responsibilities are taken care of to free up life so you can choose how you spend that time, to live how YOU want. The goal is to get everything taken care of and maintained easily so you’ll have time to live your life how you want to. “Earn your lazy and enjoy the heck out of it!”
Earn Your Lazy- It’s about stripping away the excess, the distractions, and the noise, so you can focus on what brings you joy and fulfillment.
Stop spending your life doing chores and constantly adding to your “To Do” and “Should Do” lists. Making sure that what needs to be done for you to live your life is taken care of, frees up time and mind space so that you can actually enjoy your free time. I call it “lazy” because for so long my goal has been to get everything done so I can just do nothing and be lazy. Not talk, not think, nothing. But I realized that I wasn’t actually enjoying my lazy because things I didn’t get done were pulling at me or I was numb scrolling my live away on my phone which just creates more stuff to do because you find things to either buy, or see things you think you should do, or cook, or worry about, etc.
When scrolling through social media you constantly have stuff coming at you and that creates all kinds of different emotions or “to do’s” that bog down your mind instead of actually letting you enjoy your Lazy. Earning your lazy means that you have done all the things that pull at you, so you’re not worrying about them or trying to do them when you’re supposed to be doing what you actually want to do. Knowing those things are done gives your mind freedom from thinking about it or feeling bad about it, giving you the space to enjoy what you want to do with that earned free time to LIVE however YOU want to live!
The Freedom of Discipline: How Responsibility Unlocks the Life You Want
In a world that often celebrates spontaneity and the pursuit of passion, discipline and responsibility can sometimes feel like constraints on our freedom. However, the truth is quite the opposite. When we take care of our responsibilities and stick to our disciplines, we free up time and mental space to live life the way we truly want. This relationship between discipline and freedom is the key to a balanced, fulfilling life.
The Misconception About Discipline
Many people associate discipline with restriction—rigid schedules, strict routines, and the suppression of desires. This view can make discipline seem unappealing, something to be avoided or minimized. But discipline is not about depriving yourself; it’s about creating structure and order in your life, so you can accomplish what needs to be done efficiently and effectively.
Think of discipline as the foundation of a well-designed home. Without a solid foundation, the structure would be unstable, prone to collapse. Similarly, without discipline, our lives can become chaotic, with important tasks left undone, goals unachieved, and dreams unfulfilled.
The Power of Responsibility
Responsibility is often seen as a burden, something that weighs us down and prevents us from enjoying life. But taking responsibility for your life is one of the most empowering things you can do. It means owning your actions, decisions, and outcomes. It means being proactive rather than reactive, and taking charge of your time and energy.
When you consistently handle your responsibilities—whether they’re work-related tasks, household chores, or personal commitments—you prevent them from piling up and becoming overwhelming. This proactive approach not only reduces stress but also creates a sense of accomplishment and control over your life and creates time to do what you want to do.
How Discipline Creates Freedom
The beauty of discipline lies in its ability to create freedom. When you establish routines and stick to them, you create efficiencies in your day. For example, a disciplined approach to time management allows you to complete tasks more quickly and with less effort, freeing up time for the activities you truly enjoy.
Consider the simple example of maintaining a clean and organized home. If you set aside time each day to tidy up (10 minute Tidy) and take care of small tasks, you prevent clutter from accumulating. This disciplined approach means you spend less time on major cleaning efforts and more time enjoying a peaceful, organized space.
In the same way, financial discipline—such as budgeting, saving, and avoiding unnecessary expenses—can lead to financial freedom. By taking control of your finances and making responsible choices, you reduce financial stress and create opportunities to invest in experiences, hobbies, or even early retirement. Yes, please!
The Freedom to Pursue Your Passions
When your responsibilities are handled and your disciplines are in place, you free up time and energy to focus on what truly matters to you. Whether it’s pursuing a hobby, spending quality time with loved ones, traveling, or simply relaxing, discipline opens the door to these possibilities.
Instead of feeling guilty about what you haven’t done or stressed about what still needs to be completed, you can fully enjoy the present moment. This freedom allows you to live more intentionally.
Conclusion: Discipline as a Pathway to a Fulfilling Life
It’s easy to view discipline and responsibility as barriers to living life on your own terms. But in reality, they are the very tools that enable you to do just that. By taking care of your responsibilities and respecting your disciplines, you create the structure and order necessary to free up time and energy for the things that truly matter.
Embrace discipline not as a restriction, but as a means to greater freedom. Take responsibility for your life, and watch as the path to your dreams becomes clearer and more achievable. In the end, it’s not about working harder but about working smarter, so you can live the life you’ve always wanted. It’s All What You Make It!
